Hey Folks,

Just thought I'd check in and say hello.

New pilot here in Warwickshire, UK; proud owner of a Mavic Mini, bought as a bit of fun, but also to shoot some aerial photography of a housing development going up in our area where my in-laws will be moving next year so that my 9yr old, who is a bit of a dab hand at video editing and I can pull together a nice timelapse video for them as a moving in present.

I have to say first impressions of the drone are great; despite it's well documented limitations it is still a cracking bit of kit and well up to most tasks.

I've also just signed up to the Litchi Beta as I'd like to use the waypoint functionality to deliver a consistent set of shots for this project.

Already looking at skins, prop guards, landing gear extensions amongst other cool stuff to improve upon DJI's already great design!

Look forward to being part of this community.

Cheers,

Ryan

Welcome to the forum, from Texas!

You'll find that the Mini almost flies itself. This can lead to overconfidence. Try to be conservative at first, and expand your horizons gradually. The Mini, at only 249 grams, doesn't handle wind as well as the heavier drones do. On windy days--you get those in the UK--,i's best to fly the Mini so that you have a tail wind on the way back.

Read your manual, and practice using "Find My Drone". Chances are you'll crash and perhaps lose your drone. Don't wait 'til that happens to try to learn under stress in less than ideal conditions. We have several fellow Brits among our membership, and over 120,000 more from around the world who will help you learn your new hobby. Ask for help when you need it. Share your work when you can!

Glad you've joined us!
