sooooo. will china make its version of gps available free to the world like the us has? perhaps access will be based on your social credit score? if it is free to the world like ours not a big deal. if it is not,,, then who will be allowed access?

Unless China is encrypting the signal with a secret key that it only shares with vendors that pay to license the technology, there's no way to prevent people from using the new satellites. And if they do use a secret key it will quickly become compromised as it gets shared. Unless China develops an entirely new system based on PKI and distributes unique private keys to each vendor, which ultimately eats memory, processing power and electricity (all of which are precious on a satellite).

I think that Beidou winds up being a win for consumers. Many devices already use both US GPS and GLONASS for higher accuracy and reliability. The additional Beidou satellites, if China can be relied upon, only improve matters.
