When operating in controlled airspace and proper FAA authorization has been granted through LAANC, is there any requirement to monitor the control tower frequency on an VHF Transceiver? If not, how does the tower communicate any pertinent information to the drone pilot?

In most countries unless you're licensed, radio contact with the tower would be illegal. Not sure if the US is any different.

Mobile phone is the usual method of contact.

If it's necessary, the LAANC authorization will give you further instructions such as contacting the tower or providing them a contact number. Most of the time you won't be asked.

In order:
-No. In fact discouraged by FAA
-They don’t

Your LAANC authorization will give the tower your phone number if the tower needs to contact you. I believe the ONLY situation that warrants YOU contacting them would be if you had a fly-away.

YES it is a good idea to have a radio and monitor the local air traffic, but not required.
