Customizing RC buttons

I know about the Go4 menu selection to customize the C1/C2/5D buttons, but is there any way to go beyond those menu selections?

Specifically, i'd really like the 5D left/right directions to control the gimbal roll adjustment, and the C2 button to engage/disengage tripod mode. Also, it would be really nice if C1 button could be configured to set the focus to manual + move it to hyperfocal instead of focusing at the center.

Is there any 3rd party app able to configure the controller this way? Or a go4 hack?

No, you've got to actually fly with Litchi.

I kinda hesitate to try Litchi, seeing mixed feedbacks on it. Some praise it as the best app ever, yet some post stuff like "i've switched to mode <X> and almost got a flyaway", and i don't want to be the latter.
