I have set the distance on my new Mavic mini to unlimited and also tried 15000 feet, but when it gets to 750 feet it just stops and won't go any further. I am line of sight with good gps coverage.
Any ideas? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, Newguy126

If it's an actual limit rather than just running out of signal, show a screenshot of where you set the limits in your app settings.
You'll have to have the drone connected since the limits are stored in the drone, not the phone or tablet.

Are you using payload enable? using the blade protectors? when the drone detect payload will activate the limits like beginner mode.

thanks for the reply. I took the cages off and it flew as far as I wanted, maybe a quarter mile, used one quarter of the battery charge. Is it necessary to have it in line of sight at all times or can I go behind trees or a hill and still get it back?

I am just a bit confused. In your initial post. You said that it was in line of sight and in your last post you are asking is it necessary to have it in line of sight.

I just wondered if it was necessary to always have it in sight, or line of sight if it's too far to see.

Hi Newguy126 - you always want to keep your drone line of sight. First off, it's a legal requirement and second, you'll definitely lose signal at some point by flying behind dense foliage or buildings. You might get lucky sometimes, but eventually you'll lose the drone or crash. Make sure you've properly set your Return to Home altitude to clear all surrounding obstacles also.

If you can't see the drone readily, you are out of the FAA definition of 'line of sight'.

If you fly behind trees or a hill the connection to the drone will be lost and Return to Home will be triggered. In any case, don't do that because the rules dictate that VLOS must be maintained at all times.
