New to this, but I am buying the Air 2S for real estate photography. Specifically regarding registration: can I register the drone to practice with, then at a later date take the 107 test and certification before using the drone commercially?

You could.
Or you could keep it simple and register it commercially first and use it recreationally at first and commercially when you have your Part 107.
Either way would work.
