DJI App incoming Aircraft Detection warning message!!!

Anyone seen this YouTube video, appearing to show the DJI App with warning messages related to Aircraft Detection. The video shows the first warning, "Another aircraft is approaching. Descend as soon as possible" warning message in the DJI App, it also shows a new icon on the header bar with what appears to be an aircraft symbol initially coloured red then goes to orange as the warning message changes to "Another aircraft is nearby, Fly with caution"

Yup. Picks up on the aircraft transponder. Have to have the receiver on the drone. Matrice has them. Maybe Inspire?


Haven't seen a video though. But have seen stills from an Air Boss on a fire scene.

Thanks for the info Scarab69. It would be great to see this rolled out to all DJI drones (assuming technology constraints allow), this would better allow drone pilots to be more aware of their air space and aircraft activity, above and beyond visual detection.

Would be nice. But right now this is a very high end industrial grade application. Even a lot of small manned aircraft don't have this tech. Not sure if the Matrice picks up the signal directly or if the Ground Sense system uses a base station to send the info to the UAS .

DJI's press release mentioned "on the aircraft". M200 only.

DO note that while it's a nice addition you have to be careful not to take it for more than it is, i.e. a chance of potentially warning you about aircraft you might have missed. It is NOT a primary source of information since it would be missing all traffic which does not have ADS-B out with position data. Where I am it can be as much as 50% of the traffic.
To make it more useful they should be merging that with other sources that are able to locate most of those through multilateration.

That is correct. And unless I'm in correct, the system on the Matrice only detects manned AC as well.

DJI has stated in the past that they can "throw a switch" and have a quasi air traffic control system for DJI drones so I'd be looking for that in the future.

I just flew my Mavic and a white aircraft symbol appeared on my screen near where the controller for flight modes on left appears. Was on twice briefly but neither time did an audio warning appear
