You must have RC3 in order to fly manual mode (which is one step above sport mode). The MC is unable to put the Avata 2 into manual mode. While in manual mode, you control the drone differently, it's faster, it can do acrobatic tricks. Your drone is not longer under the strict control of GPS.
You must not have experience flying a multirotor with a standard remote, is that correct? The reason for my assumption is because if you have experience using a standard remote, then you probably wouldn't be asking your question. The motion controllers are fun and you have reasonable control. But the difference between the level of control compared to a standard remote is fairly significant.I am wondering what the Remote Controller 3 would give me in additional capabilities.

So, if you don't have any experience with the standard remote, then it may feel un-intuitive compared to the motion that you're familiar with. But, for someone that is experienced with a standard remote, they will fly circles around you. If you are willing to put in the time to learn to use a standard remote, then yes, you should get it. IMHO.
If you're having fun with the motion and it meets your needs, then no need.
