From what I understand with the DJI goggles, anything mavic pro and above (pro 2, zoom etc) you can use the goggles wireless but with the mavic air I would have to plug in from the goggles to the controller.

Is that correct?

I'd the experience any different?

That's correct. Here are some other important differences:

1) Since the DJI Goggles are connected to the remote controller, you will not be able to run DJI GO on a mobile device. That means you won't be able to access any DJI GO features while using the goggles.

2) If you don't connect the Mavic Air to DJI GO before connecting the DJI Goggles, the height will be limited to 30 meters and the distance will be limited to 50 meters.

I can't speak to the M2P, there are others on this forum who have experienced range limitations, but I can speak to the MP1, and the Goggles are an awesome experience.

As you fly, you are sure you know where you are in relation to where the drone is, or is facing only to discover you have become disoriented...amazing.

That said, not everyone appreciates the goggle experience.

My only reservation about the goggles is the vulnerability to the outside world because you will be immersed in the experience.
To that end, I've looked hard at the Moverio, and for me it's just to finicky, so no go.

If I were to fly out in the middle of nowhere, it would be goggles only, always.

Yea being immersed and not knowing what's happening as always been a fun thought lol

I wish I could try them out first lol

Where do you live? Maybe someone who has them can meet up with you.

A cheaper way to try them out is to get a VR headset, and the Litchi app. This could cost as little as $35 together.
Realize that the image quality is far inferior to that of the goggles, but it is a good way to try the experience out; inexpensively.
