I notice that DJI has removed the Mini 5 from their website and all the software for it.
I am aware of the possible ban in the United States on DJI products on 23 Dec.
This would from all that I read only ban the sales in the United States.
I am in the United States.
I am now a little concerned about buying one.
I want to purchase the DJI Mini 5 Pro, but I am concerned about software and updates.
From everything that I have read, it should not affect people who already own DJI products.
I have emailed DJI about this and have not received an answer from them.

I am hoping that someone has experience with this or has recently purchased one and can answer my question.

If I purchase one prior to the ban, will I still be able to update the software on it before the ban date?

I would hate to purchase one and not be able to be able to update it to the most recent software.

Yes, since nothing has changed in how the firmware or software works. If a ban is ever put in place, no one can say for sure what changes might be made to the firmware or software after that happens.

Yes, I realize this.
However, my major question is, if I purchase the Mini 5 Pro now will I be able to login with the unit once I receive it and update the software before the ban date.
They have already removed the Mini 5 Pro from there website and the software, and the ban date is not even hear yet.

Like I said above, yes. Nothing has changed with the firmware of software as of today.

The Mini 5 Pro hasn’t been removed from the DJI website. If you switch the location to a country where it’s sold, like Canada, you’ll be able to see all of the usual pages.

Thank you msinger. I am sorry if it sounded like I was being rude. That was not how I meant to come across.
I did not realize it was still on the website if I switched countries. Thank you for pointing that out.

I did notice that if I switch to Canada that the kit that I wanted is $1,109 USD. If I order this same kit right now on Amazon to get it delivered to me in the United States it is $1,604. That is $495 cheaper. That really stinks that I can’t get it delivered from DJI to me in the United States.

I think you meant $1159 for the Plus Combo. Amazon LLC isn't selling anything DJI on Amazon. However, several third party Chinese sellers on Amazon Marketplace have been offering that Plus Combo kit for the same $1159 price as DJI Canada over the last 30 days, and even as recently as last Sunday, fulfilled by Amazon, for next day Prime, or two day Prime delivery.

However, in between those deals, the price jumps up to ridiculous prices and only the worthless A to Z Guarantee for a "possible" delivery in 10 days, to be shipped by the scammy sellers, which is a complete ripoff!

Keep checking back daily, and you'll likely find the $1159 Prime fulfilled by Amazon deal again.

I want the one with the fly more combo and the RC2 controller.
I have been watching Amazon for three days now and I have not seen one for $1159.
It’s the scamming sellers with false promises that make me nervous, as you mentioned.
I will keep checking for a day or two, but I don’t want to wait too long.

I just went to check the Newegg website, and they have the kit for $1150, with a delivery date between Dec 11-22, coming from Hong Kong. My experiences when I see dates like that, they usually take longer. That is not a bad price, but I would like it a little sooner than that, if possible.

There are a lot of us in the same boat- waiting to order the Mini 5 Pro and sell our Mini 4 Pro but not being able to order on the usual sites and worrying about these third party South Korean sellers. I wish we could get some educated guidance from those on the forum who have experience with these sellers. I would gladly send my money to a South Korean company if I was reassured by those here who have already purchased from them and can reasssure us.

Check out this thread for people here who’ve bought through South Korea sellers without issues…

We've likely created a small industry for reselling drones in South Korea

Yes, it would be great if we could buy directly from DJI, but it looks like that might not happen anytime soon. In the meantime, you can usually find deals on Amazon or eBay that match or come pretty close to what Canada has right now.

Which Mini 5 Pro package are you interested in buying?

I have purchased successfully from 102_store who is also listed at 102_store00. I have bought more than one drone related thing and have had occasion to contact them with question which were answered quickly. They ship FedEx and I got a drone in less than a week. Some shipments are listed a Tariff free and others will clearly state that items may be subject to customs. I know others that have also bought from them with no problem.

Dale,
As per @akdrone, I ordered the mini 5 pro fly more combo via the same eBay store 102_store. I ordered on Monday and it arrived today, Friday. Hats off to the seller and FedEx. Fired it up, updated firmware and did a short test flight. All good.

Keep a daily eye out at Adorama and Amazon. Adorama is always safe but Amazon only so if it is actually being sold by Amazon...not the DJI store which means nothing.

Make sure the one you get specifically states PLUS in the name for the PLUS batteries. There is no reason for any US purchaser to buy the Combo unit with regular batteries as the drone still requires pilot registration and still transmits RID regardless of which batteries are used. Why give up 50% more flight time?

Dale,

You have received that assurance multiple times here already from multiple members, exactly as you requested. What else are you waiting for? There are no guarantees.

Thanks. Redundancy reinforced my decision.

FWIW, I don't think what they are doing is legal, so past experiences aren't guaranteed to play out the same way in the future. However, sellers have been misrepresenting products when shipping internationally for a long time.

With that said, I do think you'll receive whatever you buy. Just keep in mind that you might get hit with unexpected import fees that could wipe out the savings you were expecting.

I haven't seen anyone mention that happening yet, so the chances are likely very slim, especially if you place your order sooner rather than later.
