DJI OUT OF BUSINESS for selling Mini 4 Pro in USA !!!!

Last December, I ordered a Mini 4 Pro from an Amazon reseller (BIG MISTAKE), who lied about shipping from US warehouse and instead shipped via DHL from Mainland Communist China, and let the drone rot in customs for a month, doing nothing.

I then ordered direct from DJI, who immediately shipped from Hong Kong, via DHL. The drone sat in customs for a week, then rejected. DJI wanted to cancel/refund, but then agreed to ship within a week, via UPS. We were both aware that DJI needed to include documentation with the shipment that the Mini 4 Pro is not made with Chinese Slave Labor, and the units would clear customs.

Six weeks later, DJI shipped via FedEX, but failed to update their ordering website as promised, that would have provided me with shipping information and tracking number. After the Mini 4 Pro sat in customs for two weeks, DJI called me directly, informing me that FedEx needs me to contact them with additional information in order for the package to clear customs. I immediately called FedEx (called twice to confirm, as I did not believe them the first time) , who told me that all was good, no additional information was needed , that the package was released by customs and I should have it in a day or two.

This morning the FedEx web site says the drone is being returned to Hong Kong. I called FedEx, who confirmed that the prior day at 6pm Memphis time, the two other FedEx agents lied to me, as the package was already rejected, with return tracking number assigned, NOT cleared to final destination.

I then called DJI, who said they needed to cancel my months old order, they have no product (Mini 4 Pro) to ship, and are out of business in the US market !!! They can only get small accessories/batteries through customs and can no longer ship drones. I asked them WHY then did not update the web site as promised, to let me know of the shipment, and WHY did they wait to tell me to contact FedEx with required customs clearance information, when customs had already rejected. There was NO reason, answer, explanation, as to why they are not able to ship drone products into US market.

Are sure they didn't mean the combo you wanted is currently not available? The DJI RC-N2 package currently shows it's ready to ship to the US within 3-5 days.

There are several Mini 4 Pro packages here on Amazon ready to ship within the US.

Heres the problem. The U.S. requires paperwork from DJI to prove that they are in compliance with the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). These forms have been submitted many times by DJI. The U.S. Customs service has scrutinized these forms to the point of it being ridiculous. (T's not crossed and the like). I am not saying this is 100 percent the Governments doing BUT one of these two partys is being a little "over cautious" about the plastic your Drone is made from. ( The plastic that customs claims to have a problem with is not even purchased by DJI.
With the new Tariff thing going on this whole mess is bound to get worse and more ridiculous.
Just don't order direct from china if it worries you. DJI will soon be sending the U.S. market plenty of Drones.
They seem to be importing Ronins and Gimbals by the shipload! with no problems.....Give it time.
P.S. the Plastic our Government has such concerns about can be seen in any Game console you may have in your home.
P.S.S. HINT.....That dude standing next to the POTUS in almost every pic, The one in the leather pilots jacket, He wants to make his own Drones to sell to you.... Hmmmm but how on earth does one compete with China?

Keep in mind that you're speaking to DJI telephone representatives who speak English as a second language, are working from canned scripts and stock answers, have little to no hands-on experience with DJI products, and whose job performance is measured by how quickly they complete the call. In other words, take what you hear with a big ol' grain of salt.

DroneNerds has their own warehouse in China. They order from DJI and delivered to their warehouse. When you order from them it is shipped from them through UPS and mine arrived within a few days.
Where did you hear that DroneNerds ships from their own warehouse in China?

A brief search shows everything DJI on the DroneNerds.com website is "Reserve Now" (pre-orders) instead of "Order Now" which means it is already here in the U.S. and shipped via UPS.

When did you order from Drone Nerds, what did you buy, and what was the inventory status shown on their website when you placed your order?

Did your order, in fact, ship directly from China to you, or did it ship from the U.S. to you via UPS?

I contacted them directly, they informed me they ordered from DJI to "their" warehouse in China. I ordered on 17 Jan, received notice of the shipment with UPS, it arrived on 23 Jan. Air 3s Bundle
Below is the UPS tracking showing it came from China.

Costco has them in stock with the RC-N1 controller, an extra battery and a data card right now. I don't remember the exact price - maybe $779? - but I just saw it yesterday.

A Google search on "dronenerds shipping from china" yields the following:

*Results were generated by "Generative AI"

DroneNerds.com ships worldwide, including to the U.S., and they work with various companies to ensure the best international shipping rates, but they do not ship directly from China.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Shipping Destinations:
DroneNerds.com ships to all U.S. destinations, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and they also ship worldwide.

  • International Shipping:
They work with various companies to find the best rates for international shipping, but they do not specify which companies they use or that they ship directly from China.

  • Shipping from China:
While DroneNerds.com sells products that may be manufactured or sourced in China, they do not ship directly from China to customers.

  • Shipping Options:
They offer various shipping options, including expedited shipping and standard shipping, but the specific options and rates depend on the destination and the carrier they use.

  • If you are shipping from China to the US:
You will need to identify the goods you want to import, understand your import rights, and choose a mode of transportation.

  • If you are shipping drones from China to the US:
All operators of foreign drones must follow the FAA's Remote ID guidelines to operate in the United States. If the foreign drone has FAA remote ID broadcasting capabilities and is registered in a country outside of the United States, then you must submit a Notice of Identification (NOI) to the FAA before you fly.

May be the case according to your search. However, the above tracking timeline was from the UPS system and they were the ones to delivered it. And as you can see, UPS picked it up in Kong Kong.

Agreed (will update my post). I'm still looking as well.

Yes the package came from HK. Location in HK apparently is not a warehouse owned by Dronenerds but instead I believe Chek Lap Kok is the airport in HK. In addition, unlike FedEx, UPS doesn't always post every single checkpoint for a package in their possession. We just don't have enough information to confirm the true origin of the package in your tracking.

Is there no way to confirm they own their own warehouse in HK before we express this statement definitively? It's important in the context of shipping (not directly from DJI) and a method to alleviate the current issues associated with US Customs.

If you're genuinely interested in getting an answer, you might consider reaching out to Drone Nerds via email and asking them directly.

I saw this post on the DJI Forum. If DJI was really going out of business, it would be bigger news. This seems like a nonsensical rant/post.

Just a quick check of Amazon shows they're still available (not going to argue about shipping) for a LOT more than I paid back in September.
Viva La Tariffs

Amazon probably isn't the most reliable indicator of the effects tariffs may or may not have. Prices fluctuate constantly for various reasons, like competition, stock availability, and algorithmic adjustments. When lots of sellers are involved, it's often a race to the bottom. When sellers or supply is limited, prices tend to climb.

FWIW, the Mini 4 Pro package I purchased from the DJI Store in September 2023 is still priced the same today. It seems the effects from the "tariffs of doom" aren't as bad as some echo chambers make them out to be. Many people make a living spreading misinformation. Unfortunately, it's just one of life's many disappointments.
