DJI Removes No-Fly Zones.

They have enough parts of the offending drone---looks like a Mini 4 Pro with an aftermarket + battery--- to ID the owner, assuming it was registered with DJI. I remember some years ago that the owner of a DJI drone was identified and arrested after he crashed into a National Guard helicopter flying over the lower Hudson river near the Verrazano Narrows bridge. As I recall the owner was identified by the number on one of the motors which was embedded in the helicopter's rotor blade.

FBI photo of the battery is definitely the standard 249g version from either the Mini 3 Pro or Mini 4 Pro, but the drone body doesn't match either done. It also doesn’t match the Mini 2 and the Mini 2 has an entirely different battery. It can't be a Mini 4 Pro because the OA sensors on the Mini 4 Pro are farther back and omnidirectional. In any event, social media posts indicate that it may belong to photographer Kit Kintner, who took all his fire content on YT offline immediately after the incident.

As to the National Guard helicopter incident, the pilot convicted himself by voluntarily coming forward immediately after, saying his drone disappeared while flying in the same area. Could it have been his? They were then able match to a known person to the serial number of one of the motors embedded in the helicopter rotor blade, to conclude it was, in fact, his drone. However, without his coming forward first, no independent identification of the pilot would have been possible from the motor serial number alone.
