DJI Repair Service

DJI only lists 4 recommended repair centers in the US for Mavics and Phantoms and this one isn't one of them.
That's not to say they are not good, just not listed by DJI as trained and recognized.

You would never know that looking at their web page or seeing their unsolicited ads on face book. They are pretending to be DJI just look at their name. I think some kind of fraud is being committed here.

They are NOT pretending to be DJI. Did you even look at the website?

This is DJI's website:

They merely ONLY work on DJI products. Their website doesn't look like DJI and they don't claim to be affiliated with DJI.

Must disagree. They simply limit themselves to DJI drones. Their only claim is that technicians are certified through DJI. The DJI logo never appears. Slander is also a tort.

This company is absolutely claiming they are the company DJI. They have the letters DJI and the word drone in their domain name. They also basically still have the DJI logo embedded in one of their videos on the home page. You can’t infringe upon a TM any harder than that, as mentioned above by passedpawn. I invest in domain names, it’s my job to know. This guy will likely get a UDRP soon enough.
Hey Thomas, imagine you work extremely hard on creating something amazing and you call it the wizogizo. You buy the domain wizogizo, you trademark your product or service as wizogizo, and you start making money from your creation
Wizogizo
Now I come along and make an inferior product that looks just like yours but breaks instantly. I set up my site called
BuyWizogizo.com

Are you good with me?

They do much more than claim to be affiliated with DJI. The domain name says they are DJI! Am I out of my mind here?
I don’t understand what is so difficult here.

It's no different than a car repair shop that specializes in a certain brand of car having that in their name. We have a BMW repair facility here and a Subaru repair facility here local to me. Neither of them are part of their name sake but because they ONLY work on those brands they have it in their name.

Lol it doesn’t work that way.
It’s called trademark infringement and it’s kinda big deal.

Well apparently it does... right or wrong it is that way on 2 examples local to me. One of them I'm a client of occasionally...

I can tell you how it works for me- if I look at the DJI drone service website I am not under the impression that they might be directly affiliated with DJI.

The example BigAl presented is the first one that came to mind for me also. If you drive a Porsche you have a better chance of finding a specialist repairer is they have Porsche mentioned somewhere in their trading name.

Well being this has started to go off topic let’s wait
till Steve at DDS comes on which it being the weekend
I’m sure he’s took the weekend off and let him straighten
this out. Sure he will and have communicated with him
this week in e-mails on an issue which he helped me fix.
I know he’s wide open trying to set up their store site and
that might have something to do with this.
Other than that this thread isn’t about ( Trademark infringement ) so OP just hold on till he comes on.

Have any of you in the US had experience with DJI Repair Service? They have one if my drones in for repair and I'm growing concerned.

My MA took an uncommanded excursion into a tree. A few week later during a wind storm it fell to the ground. The only obvious damage was the top plastic shell was partially peeled off and the camera gimbal was damaged. I sent it into DJI Repair Service over a month ago. They checked it out right away and quoted me for a new shell, gimbal, and labor. I paid right away and yet still 5 weeks later I do not have my drone back.

After 3 weeks I sent an email inquiring as to status. A few days later I got a reply that they were having difficulty with the gimbal calibration software and were working it out with DJI. When another two weeks had gone by I send an email which was never answered so I called and was told that they were waiting for VPN software from DJI. I"m probably naive, but the only VPN software I'm aware of is use to mask your identity when you are browsing on the web. I waited another week and called again and got the same story. I was promised that they would contact DJI right away and then follow up with an email telling me what they found out. That was a couple of days ago and still no email.

In summary,

They have my MA and a few hundred of my dollars.
It has been 5 weeks now and no resolution.
They don't return emails inquiries.

Is this typical of them? They have a first class website and what appears to be a great business model. Are they just over worked? What should I do at this point?
Sorry for the mishap. What is your ticket # so we can investigate further?

Pleasure chatting @ KellogKid

to shed some light on this thread
timeline

8/2-Quote approved to repair

8/4- repair was completed

Unfortunately after replacing all the parts the drone had software issues and needs an "update from dji in china" since than we have been waiting on DJI for a patch in the software that only they have (not available through assistant 2) Although we are an authorized dealer sometimes the lack of response fro DJI can cause a delay which is happening here.
Solution-
Pull a page out of dji's book. We will just switch the drone out for an official dji refurbished unit w/ express delivery. We will keep KellogKid's drone and wait for dji.

Also note the price of an official dji refurb far exceeds the price of a repaired or used drone but want to go the extra mile for out fellow forum members.
Currently working internally to figure a solution for this scenario as it does happen from time to time, not fair to our customer although these software issues are far beyond our control but they do turn up every so often.

Thank you @djidroneservice for a thorough update.

@KelloggKid sounds like you'll be flying again in no time at all. Watch out for those trees... they are DRONE MAGNETS :)

Yes at first I didn’t realize they are an approved vender here which probably means they pay to support this forum which is a good thing to keep it going as it is a good forum and benefits many without having to charge all.

For Kellogg Kid it was a good thing he brought his complaint here as this thread helped get the admins to apply pressure and get a good outcome.

I am not sure who one can apply pressure in China to get good results with if the same problem appeared with a complaint against DJI.

Regarding whether or not there is “trademark infringement” that is between DJI and them. Not my case to fight.

I am glad that Kellogg Kid is solved.

There was no pressure applied we just know how to flag someone as any member can to get their attention.

Now, I have cleaned several post and sent out a warning
for continued off topic post. I see no reason for this to continue till @KelloggKid gets his unit back at which time he can message me and I will reopen this .

OK guys this is reopened for the moment for the OP.

I would like to close this thread out by:
  • Offering a brief summary of my circumstances at the time of my initial posting.
  • The purpose/intent of my original posting.
  • Apologize for the thread getting out of hand.
  • And let everyone know the outcome.

Context– About the same time that I was having some communication difficulties with DJI Drone Repair Services, I had dropped a very expensive antique off at a local powder coating company. They promised a 2 week turn around. When 3 weeks had gone by and I didn’t hear anything I tried to call them and found the phone had been disconnected. They are out of business and my part is gone. That might explain why I was somewhat nervous when I wasn’t getting information about my drone.

Purpose and Intent– At the time I made my initial posting, I was simply hoping to get some reassurance from another drone owner who had done business with DJI Drone Repair. Instead, it seems that the thread got a little sideways and cast the repair company in an unnecessary bad light. That was never my intent and I would like to publically apologize to Steve and DJI Drone Repair for the direction this thread ended up going.

Outcome– I received a really nice phone call from Steve at DJI Drone Repair Service explaining that they had been waiting for several weeks for software from DJI that would allow them to calibrate the new gimbal they had installed. Steve explained to me that my Mavic Air was promptly repaired but without this software they were unable to calibrate it properly. Unfortunately, they were at the mercy of DJI and at the time of the phone call from Steve they still had not received the software. Steve went on to state that this was, of course, not my fault and that he felt that I had been waiting too long for my drone to be returned. In an effort to make things right he offered to send me a DJI refurbished unit.

I feel badly that it came to that. It was through no fault of DJI Drone Repair Service that DJI had failed to support them with adequate calibration tools. Steve and his crew have a great business model and I am very confident that they will provide outstanding service at a very fair price. My only suggestion to them would be that they try improve the response time on their communications.

The refurbished Mavic Air arrived yesterday am I’m excited to be back in the air. And Steve, if you happen to read this, your having sent me that unit was way over the top, and should be an example of how sincere you are about taking care of your customers. Thank you very much and again, please accept my apology for this thread getting sideways.

I highly recommend the services of DJI Drone Repair Service.

AWESOME!

I dislike when we all get out of hand, and maybe our lane! We all can..But, this is a good shelf check...Don’t judge...

Knowledge is power! Good correction on the VPN...

VPN’s are used for so many things, a DJi tunnel, yes.. or, like the other guy said, to hide yourself.... Sounds like a Kodi user maybe? Ha ha ha...

Actually, I’m buying a SC from Dji Drone service... Cant wait!

Everyone here should really consider becoming a premium pilot. It’s more then a badge! Some Exclusive discounts, members area.. Really... I would look into it.... thank me later!

Question OP... so did it come in a fresh box? Nothing like that new unboxing smell..
