I am really bummed! I saw a video of how great this thing is, especially for people who need practice but may not have cooperative weather. I was sold abd then when i went to order it, found out its only available for PCs! DJIs packaging is right out of the Apple playbook, but then they pull this.....
Very disappointing!

Yep... a bummer for sure. You would think that DJI, as tied into the APPLE iPhone as they are would accomodate the Mac? However the DJI simulator doesn't fly like a a GPS drone, but like a drone in atti mode; as someone put it in another thread, "like driving on slick ice with no brakes". It can be fund and hone skills to a certain extent, but it's not like real flying IMO.

I run it on my Mac via Boot Camp. (but you'll need a copy of Windows 10 to use that method)

No, Windows 10 is not free, but plenty of ways to get it since Microsoft is being very liberal with the upgrade. For most physical hardware it's easy since there's already an OEM key for Windows 7 or digital entitlement if it had Win 8, but bootcamp is virtual so no BIOS with burned in serial number to lock in digital entitlement.

Yes it is. Installed it many times on VBOX.
If it asks for a key just say later. By next year it will be open source.

Windows 10 is free under certain conditions (upgrades, OEM), but when you run it in an emulator or on a DIY computer you are supposed to pay for the license activation. It will run with out the activation, but it will remind you periodically to activate,

It will not be open source anytime soon. There are marketing and licensing reasons that would keep that from happening.

You won't find one. At least not one with anything behind it other than wishful thinking ;)

Microsoft MVP here. Microsoft had a lot of good reasons to open-source a great deal of the development bits. There's no compelling reason for them to open-source Windows and plenty of reasons not to.

I agree. They may be more liberal with its availability, even possibly officially allowing use for free, but releasing the source code for free, doubtful.

For most people, it's essentially free as part of the OEM license with a pre-built machine. The number of people who build a PC or run Windows in a virtual machine is a small (percentage-wise) minority of Windows users.
