Do you control with your thumbs on top of the joysticks or pinch each stick with forefinger and thumb?

Before starting drone flying I have been flying aircraft for decades and have always used thumbs on top of sticks. Pinching the sticks between thumb and index finger greatly reduces the movement you can achieve!

I like to use my thumbs, but I have a rubber knob slipped over the joystick for a larger service to use for control,
BT-Phantom-KNOB originally for my phantom controller but now on the Mini since I fly that more

That sounds worth a try.
