Do you have to contact heliports?

I gave up on trying to do this a long time ago. The responses I got ranged from;

"I don't know what you're talking about - what drone?"
"Don't fly over the hospital and you'll be fine"
"The person you need to talk to isn't here and doesn't have a regular schedule"
"We hardly use that heliport so do whatever you want"
"We're busy, don't call this number again"
"We never know when that pad is going to be used, so just stay far away all the time."
"I don't know who you need to talk to or what to do with your information."

So I just stay far away from heliports and if I hear a helicopter, I'll land immediately.

Then again, the heliports in my area are rarely used - I haven't seen a helicopter use one in the 6 years I've lived here. But if you live near a busy heliport, maybe you'll have better results. Couldn't hurt to try.

^^^ What he sez. I don't bother anymore.
Downtown there are quite a few on top of banks and insurance companies to shuttle bigwigs to the airport 6 miles away.
They don't play black helicopter and they are in a NFZ quickly in any case. The ones by my house are clueless or don't care as TrayBoz detailed.
The kicker is we get heli's and low flying planes that aren't from *any* of the nearby pads or strips.

Yes! Even if they say afterwards something unexpected. It's a courtesy at the very least.
This also protects you in the event of an incident.
