After 6 hours flight and just over 200k feet flown I'm still a newbie, but loving it when the weather allows (**** weather).
Took Mavis out for a flight the other night and the only halfway sensible place to take off from (being parked on a single track road, off in a dirt layby) was the roof of my car. Nothing wrong with that, people launch from their hands! (I wouldn't ...).
After 20 mins or so of flight it was time to come home so I brought her back and thought (naturally) "I'll land where I took off". Well, great in theory, not so great in practice ...
Touched down without issue. MP started skittering sideways while the rotors were still spinning. I can only guess that the sensors told her that she was still moving so don't turn off. Because a cars roof is not totally flat the skittering led her down the ever so slightly domed roof.
Thankfully the rotors died at the instant a front foot slipped off the car roof and she came to rest on the the arm. One more second and she'd haver slipped off, rotors spinning and I'd be looking at a repair bill or a care refresh return.
Phew ....
So, hey, lets be careful out there ...
