Downloading images

Hi all
I’m really new to all this, and it’s not just how to fly, but then take photo/video,then download, then edit and finally look at it. Simple. lol
I’m having problems getting photo into my Mac book. It’s 2011 Mac book pro 17inch. Flying a Mavic Air. Have got Sandisc 32gb,type 3, 4K uhd.
Using the cable supplied fitted into side of controller. My card reader is even older than the Mac.
Going into town this afternoon, what, if anything, do I need to buy. Or am I just doing it wrong.
So bloody frustrating. Hoping somebody can point me in the right direction.

You should be able to do it with the USB cable, but the MP needs to be on, pain sometimes.

I got a microUSB to USB card reader. About ten bucks. Transfers faster and doesn’t need to be wired to a powered on bird.

Thanks BubbaDan, I’ll get a card reader this afternoon.
I had been putting the cable in the controller,thinking it would transfer via Bluetooth from drone. Now inserted cable into drone, but still nothing. I’ll wait for the card reader.
I should change my name to Silly Old Fart. Cos that’s me. Only 72 yrs young.
