drone for windy conditons

For steady state wind check the DJI specs for each of the models you are considering.
More importantly, when you fly make sure you understand the current wind and gust conditions, your own piloting skills, and the drone limitations.

@prop because of the weight limitations of the Mini size drones, that means the power out put of the motors is governed to some extent by the amount of battery power a 2 cell battery can deliver, larger drones use 3,4 and even 6 cell packs, that can therefore supply much more powerful motors, running bigger props which apply more thrust
there is more to the drones abilities than just that ,and there becomes a point ,where the weight of the battery pack, and drone combined, can actually have a negative effect on its flight envelope, especially when it comes to actual flight time

Wind will effect them all . There was a test done on all the DJI minis ( 1,2,3 models) and for wind resistance the mini 2 won hands down
What is the definition or context of "wind resistance"?

Wind Resistance ,as far as a drone is concerned,is simply the drones ability to fly against the wind, faster than the wind can blow it back the way it came ,so if the speed of the wind, and the top speed of the drone match, then it will just hover in place till the battery is depleted, this is why one of the best ways to fly your drone in windy conditions, is if possible fly out into the wind ,and then you will have the assistance of that wind on the way home, so less battery will be required to make it back

The Mini 3 has a (slightly) higher wind rating than the Mini 2 and anecdotally seems much more stable than the Mini 2...can you link this test?

thinking of getting a mini 2 but will the wind push it too much? is a bigger ,heavier drone better? thanks for any help
Supposedly the Mini 2 has a Level 5 wind resistance, so rated safe up to 24mph. Realistically I took my Mini 2 to Downtown Chicago last Winter around Christmas break. Getting a decent signal Off Lower Wacker was an issue, but I had zero problem with the wind, which I'd guestimate at 30-ish mph and maybe 40mph gusts.

I rarely check windspeeds before I fly and can count on 1 hand the times I opted not to because of the wind in the 2 years I've had it. Size for size, the Mini 2 truly is a beast.

That said, my newer Mavic 3 is rated at 28mph, but appears dramatically more stationary in the gusty stuff.

It's a mistake to imagine that what DJI lists as "Max Wind Resistance" means anything at all or is of any use to drone flyers.
The only numbers that are of use are the Max Speed the drone can fly at..
A slower drone has less ability to push against the wind than a faster drone.

As others have said, it’s not as much about weight as it is about the speed of the drone. I started out with a Mini and have progressed to an Air2S and I can tell you without a doubt that the Air2S can handle wind considerably better than the Mini. There are very few days (here in western PA) that I can’t fly due to wind. I can’t comment about the Mini3 because I haven’t had one. Best wishes on your choice.

When checking wind speed and wind gusts be sure to check it at elevation as well as ground. It's typically higher as you ascend. Use the app UAV Forecast to get these conditions.

I don't have the Levels and current top speeds for the newer Yuneec Typhoons H commercial units (Hexcopter), however when I flew the Original Typhoon H480, I flew video missions in 40+ mph. You could tell it was working harder than normal, but the video was smooth. I have all DJI now. I sold the Typhoons due to their size/portability.
