Drones on planes

The basis for considering an item dangerous on board an aircraft ought be (IMO) whether it can be used to hijack it, blow it up, or gain access to the cockpit. Causing injuring to someone else seems to have become the criteria, and really a ball-point pen or my fists or the metal cutlery handed out could inflict just as much harm as a tape measure or after sales drone prop.

I leave for Maui Tuesday on a Delta flight and now I’m considering putting everything but my craft and batteries in my carry-on. I figure those suitcase monkeys can throw the other stuff around while I carry the fragile part.

They might like to think it's silly plastic blades but the reality is, every single one of those items contains batteries of types that have a history of self igniting.

Better keep the Viagra in the bottle until you land. Could be deemed as a sword.

Thumbswayup

Make sure you keep batteries in your carry-on. Batteries will be removed and destroyed if they find them in checked luggage. The point is, they want to have batteries where they can be handled should they self combust.

Thanks[emoji106].
I just got back from REI and brought back my new carry on luggage. It’s a 2 in one detachable backpack/carry on setup! Plenty of pockets for my drone, batteries , and travel gear.
You can’t beat the Lifetime Warranty in Osprey brand products.
I got the dimensions from Delta and took measurements of the bag even though it’s tagged as Carry-On. Rather be safe than stuck with a bag I can’t get onto the plane full of batteries [emoji6]

Great plan. Just make sure that if the airline asks for voluntarily checking of carry-on luggage that you don't check it on the jetway. Make sure you carry batteries with you as carry-on.

Sitting at Gate waiting for boarding flight!
I pulled my iPad and mini4 out at security checkpoint, went through personal checks with metal detector wand ( lots of Titanium in me) , ok’d to go through, but then they asked who This Backpack belonged to.... Oh Oh. They asked what’s in my bag, which I answered “ I have 4 Drone batteries in there, but your partner (standing there) said they can stay.” He said it’s not the batteries, but what is behind the batteries is what’s concerning us. “ Oh crap, that’s my Passport Wireless Hard drive”.
They swabbed my hands after pulling out the hard drive and then waited what seemed like hours.
All good, I said thanks and went on my way.
If it wasn’t for that hard drive, which I stupidly forgot to pull out, the Mavic batteries are of no concern for TSA. The rules flying out of DTW is anything bigger than a cell phone has to come out of bags for inspection [emoji106].
Off to Seattle, and then Maui[emoji106][emoji106]

I work for a major airline. The issue most likely has nothing whatsoever to do with the props, but rather with the lithium batteries. They are considered dangerous goods. If you look at the image the OP first posted, that what all those products have in common.
