Hello the Group,
Just curious how the FEMA Alert scheduled today at 02:00pm Eastern will affect DJO Go or Go4. I've posted in Phantoms group also so please excuse any duplication.
I use two iphone 6's and an ipad Mini3 that have no cell service. According to the scheduled National test it will alert even phones that have no service.
I guess my question is, would this alert be visible during flight? I don't suspect it would interfere with flight or GO but waiting to see how it will react. I'll be hovering low just in case .... heh heh

This is a good question.

The alert is pushed to all cell devices that are on and at some point have been connected to a cell network regardless of active subscription state. We just got this type of system in Canada and with the one test they did so far, I didn’t even think to check what happens.

I look forward to hearing what your experience.

I just got the alert on my Android based phone and it popped up the Notification OVER all other applications that I was running on the phone. It comes to the forefront and one needs to click the OK button for it to be removed from the screen. I was not flying the drone at the time with my phone , but I would wager that the notification will pop up over the DJIGO4 app or any other app that is currently in the forefront. Just press OK to get the message to disappear. It should not crash the DJIGO4 app when flying as its just a standard notification.

I thought he was specifically looking to see how the alert effected the app while flying. That’s what I’m interested in also.
There's no doubt that you gonna be interrupted.
Funny thins is I am actually waiting for this alert but did not get it.

I was confident in there was going to be an interruption. I was wondering if it locked you out for a few minutes or something or if you could dismiss it right away. Being locked out of apps for a period of time and not able to dismiss the alert when you wanted to is what I was interested in knowing.

Looks like we have our answer now

This is what I hoped to learn. Looks like they are not forcing the alert to stay on screen for some mandatory time.

Fly in Airplane mode, it will prevent any notifications.
I always fly in airplane mode and it did come to the front of my Apple device. On the a Android it came across as a red tinted bar at the top of the screen. Since the alert came at 2:18 instead of 2:00 I was not in the air. However, DJI GO and GO 4 were connected to the AC.
My conclusion would be the only harm would be in the sound scaring the bejesus out of you in mid flight..

Thats a good battery saving option, too but doesnt it turn off your GPS as well?

I don’t think your question was for me. I suspect your asking about putting it j to airplane mode? Which was not my post and I don’t know. Never flew in airplane mode as I just fly with a table and a SIM card. If there has been no cell data it shows me a radar but never bother to see if gps data was recorded or available

My dedicated device for flying the Mavic is a phone with no SIM card and Wi-Fi turned off, but I don't think it is in airplane mode. It was powered up yesterday and when I got home from work, the screen was on showing the alert test. So hours after the test, the screen had never shut back off and the battery was almost dead. Guess I'd better make sure it's in airplane mode from now on.

Airplane mode didn't stop it from displaying on my iphone 6 with DJI Go 4 connected to the MP. A simple touch sent it away and other than blocking my view and the sound it didn't seem to interfere.
