Firmware update issues

While updating firmware the mavic gets quite hot, sometimes thermal shutdown will occur with my last mavic I had problems with overheating issues, when updates are required is using a fan to cool the craft down a good idea? Any suggestions and will it hurt the craft in anyway

Mine has never got so hot that it's anywhere near shutting down. Is the fan inside the Mavic running? It should be after a minute or two.

is the internal fan running (you should definitely hear it) and is the air intake at the front clear. The fan should kick in after a minute or two when sitting still on the desk. if it is getting so hot that is shuts down, you definitely have a problem that shouldn't be there.

I have never had a hot MP during update or down loading photos via WiFi with the MP sitting on the desk.

Yeah the fans running tho I want to know if using external fans a good
