First Kilometer

Made it past the 1000 meter mark for the first time.

I've been really quite timid, expanding my confidence in the reliability of the Mavic. It blows away anything I had in the analog R/C world by so much it's hard to believe it's real.

The green flight path in the KML from HealthyDrones shows that the signal was so good I should never have worried about it. Next challenge: two kilometers away. No lollygaggin', gotta fly at a good clip to get that far out and back before the battery alarms.

Where do you live, Geometryville, it's very accurately laid out...

I picked that spot for its unusually large unbroken layout of rice fields. In the spring once they're flooded and planted I will return. Flat space without buildings is quite rare in mountainous Japan.

Note the two high-tension power lines through here. Those are 80m - 150m high.
