Hi everyone!
I took my bird out today for the very first time. The Mavic pro is a sweet device. Very easy to fly and responsive. Im glad i spent the extra $$ for the pro. For those of you that live in the Southern California area, you already know that it's difficult to find places to fly. I found a sliver of beach that I believe is safe for flying. It's in Long Beach just south of Belmont shore. Anyway when I arrived at the parking lot, I checked the DJI go app and it only show altitude zones to be aware of. I then searched for the park or beach rules sign first to see if there's anything that will prevent me from flying. Next I went up to the lifeguard and asked them. They were really cool and said that no because of the flight path for the Long Beach airport. I explained to them that my gps map shows different. I then asked them if there are any beach rules that would prevent me from flying. They said they didnt know. I then walked down the beach where there was virtually no one and flew my bird.
When I got home, i looked on the B4ufly/Airmap and it shows different rules/restrictions than the DJI go app. The green box with the arrow is the section of beach where I flew the drone.
my question is, which map should I go by? I mean, apparently i fall outside of the LB airport blue circle maps in the DJI go app, but the other map im inside it. And why is that blue zone in the frist map not a perfect 360 degree circle unlike the other map?
