My new PRO 2 was flying as normal, when suddenly the Crystal Sky screen got a big full-screen message saying "you will be disconnected in 10, 9, 8, seconds etc"......Then nothing, no return to base, nothing. I was not far from the drone but it was at the limit of visual contact with no obstructions. And that was the last I ever saw of it. Of course the DJI insurance are not interested as I do not have the unit (it was over water) and I uploaded the flight logs from the screen to DJI. They said it was functioning perfectly and that the last command was to climb, with good signal and battery. So, what the heck happened? This was just after the Gatwick incident and I was at the edge of the Southampton football club geo-fence no fly zone. I was also flying away from the zone and was perfectly entitled to be in the flight area. I was at 10 feet when contact was lost. No one has heard of the screen that told me I was about to be disconnected and DJI are not interested. They also could not say why it did not return home even though they had the flight logs. This is the last drone I ever get as they are expensive and unreliable - total waste of money. I got half what the screen and fly more kit cost!!!!!

What was the point of your post? Did you just want to complain about DJI or are you looking for a second opinion? If the former then obviously most owners are going to disagree with your assessment. If the latter then you will need to provide more than a cursory account that makes little sense - it's going to require the txt flight log file.

Your frustration is understandable.

As has been said your account of the flight doesn’t give many clues. The advisory message that the aircraft will disconnect seems unusual- are you sure it didn’t say the drone would auto land?

Consider uploading your flight log to phantomhelp log viewer and share the link to the flight back here. You may get some insight.

If your intent is to get the attention of DJI it seems they don’t spend much time monitoring posts here.

The question is, did the CS itself produce the countdown, or the app? What was the remote display at that time?

Since nobody has ever mentioned a disconnect countdown, sounds like the CS itself.

If its at 10ft and is seen to "climb away" when contact is lost that sounds a lot like RTH being initiated.

We really need the logs. Nobody can judge anything without providing logs.

Well it was only yesterday so not really a long time, there is still time to revisit the post.

Sometimes we just need to rant.

In other news today in a controlled environment I went ahead and let mine fly until it ran out of battery and watch the autoland kick in at 10% @25 mins of “flight time.”

Next up disconnect but I’ll wait for 200 flights for that test but mine is set to RTH with disconnect.
