Flying in the fog/clouds

I missed something there. How do you know he was over 10K?

Ah. Thanks.

I thought what if say air force one were to come into contact with a drone that high! They would probably charge the pilot with domestic terrorism and he would never be seen again! Then the FAA would pass rules so strict we could not fly over 100’ and Dji would be forced to put that hard limit in the firmware. I see special licensing on the horizon because of people like this.

He went over 3,200 meters on his altimeter.

3200m = 10498f he actually went a lot higher the altimeter started showing a - (Negative) because he went above the capabilities of the firmware I forget what the highest reading was but he was way up there

yep, sorry. I got confused as I was directed here, thinking I was in another post. But you guys aren't giving him credit. Aren't you amazed at the skill it took ? He had to to hold the joystick back for a really long time. Actually, in my world that isn't a demonstration of anything but utter stupidity.

Operators like this are BEGGING for the FAA to get tough on drones. Forget Air Force One. As soon as one of these immature, self absorbed children has one get sucked into an engine, even if the aircraft survives, or drops one on a child playing in his back yard, the hammer will come down. And with the number of similarly ridiculous videos I have seen from such egocentric, a**holes, it might be time for it to happen. All someone has to do to show how dangerous these things can be is to come on here or Youtube and have posts like this tell them the story. And just as bothersome is when they get replies like "SuperCool Video. Thanks for posting", and "Not the record, Less than half". Are these guys all 10 years old? I have been dealing with the FAA as a pilot for many years. Believe me, they don't always wait to set rules after something happens. Sometimes, the threat to safety is so obvious that they act to prevent, before the newsworthy event occurs. And when they act, pilots often feel that they over do it. I hope people like this don't force their hand.

As a professional pilot, I have been shocked and saddened by much of what I have seen on this board. I was hoping for more some level of maturity, integrity, and situational awareness. I am also aware from the replies that many drone pilots are as bothered by this as I am. I just thought that would be the norm. Now, I wonder.

I can't help it, I just can't. I read this and all can think is.."Air force one? Ya, but if he actually took out the plane, I mean, for me at least, it would kinda be worth it." -HUMOR, Note: HUMOR

It was just a reference any aircraft is at risk but a military aircraft will get the hammer dropped faster than anything else!

My exact thoughts I’m not a professional pilot but have way more common sense than this moron! What’s going to (probably) happen is they are going to require a license just to purchase any drone with the capability to reach a certain altitude maybe it’s best that this happens! I waited a while to purchase my first drone and now see my freedom to fly is in jeopardy because these people with a childish mentality are gaining access to these drones and use them like toys! Government intervention is because a few don’t have any brains and can’t be trusted!

They will soon be considered more dangerous than a firearm, I remember wanting a RC plane when I was a kid but in NJ where I grew up the state had strict rules and permit requirements just to buy one back in the 70’s I never got one back then I was a poor child but now that I can afford things my family couldn’t it’s at risk. Your right they won’t wait till some bad happens they could just ban them altogether and require some ridiculous permits process just to take off each time! There’s going to be a lot of pissed off legit operators.

Isn’t gps information stored in mov and MP4 files like they are in photos? I know they can locate that house just from the video his attempt to blur certain information isn’t enough google can locate a place just by image comparison, I hope the men in black grab this prick! And his shiny belt buckles

I’m done venting this crap just pisses me off I worked hard to get my drone

As someone who pilots real aircraft daily to earn a living, as well as someone who truly enjoys the sport of using a drone safely as it is intended for entertainment, I struggle to see why people think they are entitled to fly their drones beyond the limits that have been established by various authorities around the world to promote safety. One day, there will be a major event/accident as a result of such practices. I truly hope I am wrong but odds are it will happen. People who decide it is ok to send these devices in excess of 10,000 feet are truly putting a lot of innocent aircraft passengers and crew at risk unnecessarily. As the old saying goes, one bad apple will ruin this sport for all one day. Please respect the rules as best you can and promote safety amongst other drone pilots.

The odds keep going up as more people get drones I don’t know how many functioning drones are out there? The sales seem to be increasing as drones like the mavic and spark make it more affordable for the general public to buy them! I hate to say it but I hope the Manufacturers and the Governments can find a solution to stopping these people before a major incident! It could be like a stoplight or stop sign most towns DOT won’t put one in till enough accidents occur! This is why we loose our freedoms in the USA a few with bad genetics ruin it for everyone! I always thought the problem would be running drugs but this is way past that innocent people’s live at risk just for some bragging rights! That they are a Inbred moron with a new toy!

Ah man, I seen your handle and said cool, another member from Portland like me. Then I read your comment and said OH thats really too bad, just another silly Portland Liberal :(

I gave up getting worked up over ppl doing stupid stunts. They are every where, not just flying drones. Speeding in cars, beating the red lights, putting fire-crackers up their ***, etc. Natural selection isn't working. There are people who choose to do the right thing, and there are people who just ignore others and do whatever they want. We can rant about it, but these same people will ignore it.

True natural selection went out the door when the masses said all are equal
