Hi, im new here.
Im wondering whether there is some kind of Focal Lenght Extender for lets say Mavic 2 Pro?
Kind of thing you clip on the front of your lens ang gives you 1.5x or 2x zoom?

Thank you.
Well, then it's something to create. The clip is there (for nd / pola filters) and we could have multiple focal lenghts...

I've searched high and low for that exact thing and I have found nothing. To the un-experienced camera person like me it just seems like it would be so easy to do. Obviously not or someone would have already produced it and sold them for $100.00ea to people like me. If you find one please share!

My personal take on this (and I have dealt with plenty of extenders in my life) is that such extenders would severely ruin gimbal balance, which is very important. Any such imbalance would very quickly ruin the gear/motors, and no one wants to get hundreds of lawsuits on their hands.
Love the idea though. Having a decent x2 would be great. I can always take multiple shots to cover a wider area, but a single shot is quite often too wide...

If that is the case then why doesn't the ND filters they put on the front of the cameras cause damage?

ND/CP can be made to the exact specs of the factory UV filter they replace. Only optical properties change, weight/mass distribution reamins the same.

Image quality is always an issue with extenders, especially on the edges. I wouldn’t put one on mine.

Well, not neceserily...if the ND filters does not ruins the balance, then this extender wont neither... i dont seek for complex 8x optical zoom accessory. it can be done very lightweight.

normally the focal lenght extender are mounted on the back of the objective - inbetween the camera body and the objective. these are expensive and high quality extenders...
then there are extenders that divide the focal lenght (makes a 12mm out of 24mm) and these are normally mounted on the front of the objective, but must say, these are used to decrease the image quality...

As we know, today we have this "flat magnificient glasses" (not sure how its called exactly) ... its lightweight, its plastic... it would not be heavyer than the ND filter.

Of course it will decrease a bit the image quality - no doubt about it... (im photographer, i used to use some of these on my canon lenses) - but its anyways something that demands very precise fabrication...

im sure it is doable... the question is wether the market is big enough to launch such production to be interesting...

Extending the focal length is done by putting a converter between the camera body and the camera's lens.
Nothing added to the front of the lens is going to do that.
This is why you're having a hard time finding such a thing.

Teleconverters go between the body and lens, but there are also magnifying lenses that do go in front of lenses, they are typically very cheap and uncoated. Some are even made to be reversible to make them “wide angle” and “telephoto” lenses. There are good ones out there if you want to spend the money, but they would be too heavy for the Mavic camera. I had a Nikon one for my Coolpix once that weighed a ton, cost a lot and had well made coated optics, but they don’t make them like that anymore. Ive used a cheap one for a phone once, gave it away after the first try. Here’s an example of one for just $8- I’m NOT recommending it, just showing how cheap some of these things are and how terrible they can be for your image quality. I wouldnt use one on my M2P.
