Galaxy s7 phone problem

I'm the go between for my son on this problem.

He is in Idaho (me in Delaware) and he just bought a Mini 2.
He has a Galaxy s7 phone and downloaded the DJI Fly app but he can not open it.
On my suggestion, I had him delete the app. and reinstall it and it still will not open.
I've contacted DJI direct and they said the Galaxy s7 will work but they weren't much further help.

How about the Galaxy a50? Same problem.

I'm open for suggestions that might help him to open the app..

I use a galaxy S7 for my mini2 and works 100%

He might have an android version that's too old on it if it was not updated recently.

How much free space on the phone? I would have periodic fly app crashes when short on space.

With the latest version of DJI FLY 1.5.9 phones have been dropped from the supported list. My S9 in off the list and I am not getting the popup to update from my current version 1.5.4. I have decided not to try to update manually for now.

It works on S7 make sure you download .apk from dji download center. it has to be the one for android. You may have to give phone permission to install app from this source. also andriod should be latest ver.
