Thanks for the reply.
I'm starting to understand, the airports blanket type map locally, threw me.
This still has me scratching my head though (why would I need authorization if it isn't restricted?) ;

So, we cannot go by the "Flight Restriction Information" available within app? That's what I'm starting to gather here.
Sorry if I seem dense, I'm just splitting hairs as to not foul up.
I hear ya. My HTC 10 is getting seriously cramped. Installing the whopper Fly app didn't help matters.I am in need of a newer phone, starting to get limited with space and had put off installing kittyhawk as I wasn't really sure what it did.
So, made room, installed kittyhawk and can just get approved. From what I understand if you're in uncontrolled airspace area, KittyHawk/LAANC won't even work.
That's easier, if the app doesn't work, it's not needed. *sigh* lol
32g of room on a celly doesn't go far. My next will be at least 128g internal.
To expand, the true authority is up to date sectional maps. FAA improved things for us in providing LAANC and facilities map but even those are not foolproof.The DJI app catches most controlled airspace as warning (just a warning), authorization (self-authorization), altitude (fixed height limit) or restricted zones (custom unlock), but only restricted zones require evidence of FAA authorization to unlock. The fact that you can start the motors and fly does not mean that it is legal to do so.

Eventually DJI will incorporate LAANC into their app as they are an approved provider.
True, sectionals don't mention altitude ceilings.
