Getting files onto my PC

I don't have a card reader. I understand I can connect the drone to my PC directly

Do I need to power on the drone to do this

Yes. Make sure you take off the gimbal guard before powering on the drone.

SD-USB adaptors cost about $3.
Using one is much faster and simpler than using a cable.

I AM USING A SANDISK 256 GB MICRO SD CARD AND READER. IT TAKES SECONDS TO GET FILES ON/OFF THE CARD. REALLY THE WAY TO GO.

I'd definitely invest in a reader. They're incredibly cheap these days.

Friday night I knew better, but I pulled the card to download that days' work. I woke up early to catch the sunrise and sure enough, turn the drone on and get the message that there is no SD card and it's flipping to internal storage. My card was still in the computer.

When I got home, I connected the drone to the laptop to transfer over the wire. I won't say it was quite painful, but it was pretty slow, and I didn't have a whole lot to download. Maybe 20 or so small clips and some images.
