20180912_104527.jpg all set for search and rescue competition

Phantom used to search field for a coloured disk with a number on it. (multiple disks spread around the field). Search altitude 10M. Once the disk is located and number confirmed, the position is charted on a grid map, the phantom must return and land. Mavic then programmed in litchi to go to the disk and land as close as possible.
Points allocated by speed and accuracy of landing.

10 min allocated for search
Another 10 min to land the rescue aircraft.

16 teams competed. 4 did not complete mission, fastest time was 6min 51sec

Fun had by all.

This was one of our culminating activities for a program we have been running with local primary schools over this term. (5 schools) Other events were drone racing, coding and a rocketry challenge

Wow , what a cool school . I came from a small school and all we had was a football

it is certainly engaging for the students. This program we deliver to feeder primary schools for our school, Aviation High.
At our school we have a UAV club for fun, and also as part of the curriculum we deliver the Cert 3- Aerospace (Remote Pilot Line of Sight) and the kids get their Cert 3, CASA Licence and radio license. They leave school with all the qualifications to work with UAV's.
Not hard getting the kids to work in these classes.
