Just a quick question. Do the modes on the goggles effect the quality of the screen view in the goggles or is it just the recorded video. I leave it in normal mode so it takes the quality of video set in Litchi or DJIGO and get great 4k video. I guess I'm just wondering what the benefit is by using a lower video recording quality in the goggle menu.

Normal gives you 720p30 downlink and lets you use all recording modes.
HD gives you 1080p30 downlink but forces 1080p30 recording.
Smooth gives you 720p60 downlink but forces 1080p60 recording.

Probably a dumb question but does downlink mean the view inside the goggles?

Yes. You've got to choose if you want to favor the live view quality or the recording quality basically.

Thanks for straightening that out for me everyone. It's not too bad in normal mode in order to get the great video, but the reception on the goggles did really start to diminish after about 5000ft.
I don't know if the mode has anything to do with that though.
