Going in to fly modes after take off

Hi almost new at least to dji
After take off the controller symbol disappears so my question is are flying modes only accessable before taking off or what do I have to do to get them on screen again don't see it in the manual maybe eyes getting old

Make sure your in P mode. I do this all the time, leave the RC in sport mode and next time I turn it on, no intelligent modes. Flip RC back to P mode and there it is.
