Good morning! A less than Newbie here!

Hi Effects - I was in your situation a little over a year ago and looked at the Air, Pro, and Platinum and ending up getting the Mavic 2 Pro. It is my very first drone. It is probably more than I need but I wanted to get something I could grow into in terms of photography potential and it flys like a dream. It has Occusync 2, which is probably the most solid connection and most resistance to interference. The last things I considered was that I only get to live once and I couldn't take it with me so why not enjoy it to the max. Of course, it depends on if you can afford it and in my case being able to convince my wife that I “needed” it.

Welcome to the forum.
Unlike you I went for the m2z and yes it was my first REAL drone after having 2 little toy drones.I love it and learn and enjoy it every time I fly it.

You know Bobvt, I was looking for a little lesser drone in the beginning but contacted a seller here who had a M2Z and agreed to buy it but at the last minute the seller pulled it. But since I thought I would have one this week, I studied the Mavic 2 Zoom and watched reviews carefully and now I won't be happy with anything less! I'm glad to hear you say this has been a good machine for you as your first real drone. I too have a toy drown here in my desk. I just need to go shopping again. I'll probably just get a new one at this point. Any suggestions since you have gone this way?

Hi Effects,I personally went with new but a lot of people have had good luck getting refurbished models.I had the money so went new,THEN as I got into it more and more there are a lot of wonderful accessories out there,if getting refurb make sure you can trust the seller,I have seen DJI sell refurbs in their store, xtra batteries some nd filters and a good bright screen are important.
Have fun flying, even my bad days are fun.
Bob
