That's simply not possible if it truly lost GPS. If it actually dropped into ATTI mode due to reasons other than GPS problems, then maybe it actually is possible.

As noted, I am a drone newbie, so gaining info on this site has been very helpful.

But, that was also my understanding. I have been running boats offshore in the ocean for 30 years. If I lose my GPS/Nav, then I don't have my position/fix anymore.
