Welcome skydeep! What GREAT scenery you have access to! The beaches and hi-rises; boats, boats and more boats; the Everglades, the Keys... ?
I fly a Mini, too, and simply LOVE it! There are many threads in the forum(s) suggesting the best learning strategies - like open fields with no obstructions, avoiding windy days, rehearsing "lost drone" situations, etc. Most of the advice will recommend being conservative. Good advice. Also, if you haven't already, you might want to consider purchasing "DJI Care Refresh" as a backup plan...

You picked a winner in the Mini. Don't be put off by its small size and low price. It's a high performance quad with a great camera.

Just be careful flying in high winds. Read the manual, and practice lost drone recovery. Believe me, you will crash your mini, and you will lose your mini. Don't wait until that happens to learn how to recover your lost drone. Whenever you need help, there are over 100,000 of us here to provide guidance as you grow as a pilot and photographer. Just ask!

Lots of neat stuff to shoot all over the Miami area. No Cal. The first drone vid I saw was of the
highrises of Miami. It impressed me so much I ran out and bought my first Mavic!
