Has anybody ordered the Mavic 4 from Ebay? Shipped from Korea.

I am happy to report the Mavic 4 Pro arrived yesterday in what appears to be perfect condition. The box was undamaged and completely factory sealed. It arrived in less than 3 days after it was shipped. I have no clue what shipping practices they use in South Korea but we need to adopt them here. It takes me longer to receive items from Amazon most of the time.

I do have a question though. The power adapter is not the standard US type plug. It did come with an adapter in the box it was shipped in. Is that adapter safe to use? It is a small plastic adapter that looks like someone made it in their basement. Should I consider ordering the US style AC adapter instead of using the adapter it came with? Or am I perfectly fine with what the one they shipped?

You can get a replacement cord that’s just the section that goes from the box to the wall on Amazon for like $8.

I just received my Mavic 4 factory sealed from an eBay vendor in Japan, total with fees and expedited shipping was around $4k. It got held up in customs until I provided my importer ID (SSN) to FedEx but that was only a ~24 hour delay. Initially, the drone only wanted to connect in CE mode but after a series of firmware updates it's now connecting in FCC mode. Excited to try it out this weekend.

That adapter is just fine. The charger accepts either 110VAC or 220VAC, so it's just a matter of adapting the pin configuration from the Asian style plug to the US style. You may find that it takes quite a bit of force to fit the adapter to the plug. Just press onward.

Happy Friday! Please welcome our friends from Japan and UPS to the world of DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone shipped from Asia to the US. Formerly dominated by South Korea and FedEx there seems to be a recent surge ahead of the end of the month uncertainty and the possible change in pricing (which is still relatively cheap). We are happy to have additional suppliers and carriers join the team matching American customers with DJI flagship drones; we appreciate the partnership. :)

Just in time for the weekend, I continue to receive "exclusive photos" from folks in Anchorage airport and here's the latest shipments of drone bound for the states. As you can see the cargo is "appropriately labeled" for easy passage and the customs agents are "specialized" to work with this specific cargo and help "speed it along" nicely. 😊

Now is the time to place your order and let's hope the Mini 5 Pro gravy train continues. I had a bunch of images but these are my top 6 captured during the week, credit to my AI friends. Here are your drones on the way! ;)

The adapter will work fine. I bought a US cord on Amazon just to eliminate the extra connection. It is a IEC320 C7 to NEMA 1-15P cord.

It seems the one I received is in CE mode though I’m in the US. Did you use the controller to update it to put it in FCC mode or did you use the computer app?

That was also my understanding but here is a link (in the “item description from the seller” under video transmission) DJI Mavic 4 Pro Creator Combo (DJI RC Pro 2) Camera Drone (3 Batteries)_ | eBay
Thanks!
That's quite concerning!
Good catch!
I totally missed that when I bought from them, as it is hidden in a tiny window that you have to scroll around in, to see it on an iPad Mini, that I just now discovered.

Need to reverify that with my seller!

  • Even through the product description lists both FCC (up to 30KM) and CE (up to 15KM) range capabilities, please note that units officially sold in Korea are configured to operate in CE environments only.
  • As such, the maximum transmission range is up to 15KM, not 30KM.

I'm wondering if the Adorama units are the same.
On my Adorama unit, I noticed that neither 5.8GHz manual nor Auto were available to choose from, and only 2.4GHz was selectable, and thought it was just a temporary glitch, and it had no impact on my range, but I also had no FCC unit for comparison.

We need to check with DJI to see if FCC has been eliminated from all units because they decided not to sell in the United States!

How can you tell if you are limited to CE instead of FCC from within the menus?

I used the controller to update it. After the first update ran, it was still stuck in CE mode, but then I rebooted everything and got prompted to do a second update and after that (plus one more controller reboot), it went into FCC mode.

You can tell if the lines on the graph are below the -90db for the 1khz and bellow the -100db line for the 4khz. If it’s in FCC mode the two lines will be above the -90 and -100 lines. I’m not super concerned as it is now its range is still as good if not slightly stronger than the Air 3 I’ve been using. So it’s not like I feel limited. Though I would love to get its full potential. So I’ll be looking into a way to fix it if at all ever possible.

That’s how I updated mine. Though it seems it wants to update the firmware every time I turn on my controllerand the drone after it’s been off. I’ve had a similar glitch on my rc2 with my air 3 before so I’m not sure it’s not actually updated it just continues to think it needs it as the file is on the controller (is my guess)

Ordered from K-WAVE and received from FedEx in ~4 days, very happy. There is another eBay vendor in Korea called "DW" or "DW Store". I thought it was interesting that on receiving my drone from K-Wave, there was some "DW" sales literature in the box. Just commenting, know nothing more than that but it appears those stores are associated.

I think we know that already. ;)

Has anybody ordered the Mavic 4 from Ebay? Shipped from Korea.

I noticed that since the lifting of the $800 exemption on Friday the dealers in Korea have raised their prices and instead of free shipping are charging anywhere from $200 to $300+ for shipping
Prices have definitely started to rise on the more recent listings; however, I still see a few units being sold at the original pricing with free shipping. I guess the question is going to be whether there are now additional fees being charged to the eBay buyer when receiving their drone from the Japan or Korean shipper. I’ve heard of only one instant where someone bought a drone from Japan and received the fee notification from the carrier.

I was seeing this new shipping charge more on the Korean sites, and was wondering if it was coming from the shipping company as the preemptive tariff fee or as a tariff deposit, so that stuff is not shipped back

I hope not; current for Mavic 4 Pro:

DJI Care Refresh

2-Year Plan
Price

USD $359
Number of Replacements

4 (including 2 for Flyaway Coverage)
Replacement Fees

Replacement Fee USD $199

Replacement Fee USD $199
Flyaway USD $1,069

If DJI had a future in America, they should consider offering DJI Care Refresh One which is similar to the plans from Apple and Google where you pay one fee per year and all your DJI covered devices are rolled up into one. I would pay $200 a year for a dozen drones but only a limited number of replacements, flyaways, etc. Kinda silly to pay $150 for Mavic and $25 for the NEO and $80 for the Mini, etc. More people would sign on from Day 1 (because it would be automatic if you were a subscriber). And you don't have to worry about renewals because the revenue stream from the customer is yearly with drones adding to and falling off 2 - 3 years at a time. I don't know the details, not sure of their model but I bet it cheap, really cheap for DJI.
Is there no difference in the DJI Care Refresh price for the Creator Combo version, with the much larger 512GB SSD, instead of the 64GB SSD?
