1) DJI have not done a good job of communicating to their customers. Yes, there was the one order update, but clearly that did not fill the gap for anyone.
2) They should not have committed to a "First come, first served" delivery unless willing to stand behind it. In todays world of social media, any laps in commitment will be caught and amplified as the general public has always been a fickle bunch.
3) At the very least, they should have either:
a) On the order page, said that the Combo orders would be processed separately from the stand alone and that the combo would not ship until all parts were available.
b) Based on their experience (and track record) been prepared to ship the individual (separately orderable) parts as they become available. aka, they should be shipping the Mavic to all customers in order, and NOT waiting on the extra batteries or bag.
It is very unfortunate for the people that sent DJI $1299 to have nothing, while the people that sent DJI $999 are receiving product.
The main thing saving DJI as a company is their innovative technology, their low cost manufacturing and that their products are very often the best in category (lucky for their line of business, this is more than enough). So they can get away with just about anything, nobody and no business is perfect. But it is too bad that they can't seem to firm up the delivery part of their business. It's not like this is their first rodeo or that they don't make enough $ to get this right. Oh well, I will say that they have improved over time, but still not good enough.
For those bit by this, it should be a lesson for any future purchase from DJI. They have great products and the wait will be worth it, just don't expect to get anything on time.
