Hey everyone!
New Mavic 2 Pro pilot (to be) here!
I've had multiple toy drones over the years but nothing like this! Picked up my brand new Mavic 2 Pro on Thursday! My plan is to absorb all the wisdom I can from all you VETS out here before I even think about getting airborne with this beauty! I live in a small town outside Ottawa, Canada and travel quite a bit to remote areas, looking forward to sharing some sweet nature shots!
I have experience as a Flight Service Specialist with Nav Canada and have a decent amount of knowledge about the aviation industry in Canada, I believe this will help me along my quest. I will be completing my basic and advanced courses as well as completing the Transport Canada requirements to operate commercially. My goal is to be set up well and be in a position to offer professional aerial services on a part-time basis come spring time.
I have many questions which I am certain I will find great information about in the threads.
(i.e Insurance, post production, business practices, registering new drone, target markets, etc).
Something I have a special interest in pursuing and learning more about are the different applications for drones in emergency services. I am a volunteer firefighter in my small community and can attest to how helpful having these capabilities would be for certain incidents (search and rescue, ice water rescue, scene 360, etc). I understand with adverse conditions (cold, smoke, etc) these scenarios likely require the use of a more capable drone, however that is why I am here, to learn.
That's a bit about me!
Thank you all in advance for any of the help I come across on this site! Looking forward to sharing!
