About to buy the mini 4 pro combo, but I want the "under 250 grams" package. I understand the "plus" batteries will send the unit into the "over 250 class" therefore requiring registration. How can I tell if its the lighter batteries? Someone said that if says "ultra light 249g" its a non-registration drone. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

it's pretty easy to see which battery is which. I think the Mini 4 Pro combo sends 3 standard batteries. The Plus batteries have to be ordered separately, IIRC

honestly, I don't see what the big deal is about registering with the FAA. It's easy to do and $5 allows you to register multiple drones for 3 years

info on registering here:

FAADroneZone

easy-peasy

and, you can have free FAA labels printed and sent to you by the great folks at the Pilot Institute

Free FAA Drone Registration Stickers - Pilot Institute

the labels are small, easily adhered and look professional

All of the above is true. A big welcome to the forum from the UK!

The lighter (standard) battery has "249g" printed on it's arse in grey ink. An unmarked battery is the 'plus' heavier version. You'll find this an excellent entry level drone.

DJI sells two Mini 4 Pro combo versions. The more expensive one is all Plus batteries and the cheaper one is all regular batteries. Which battery you fly with determines whether or not RID is broadcast, and whether registration is required. You must fly with Mini 4 Pro regular batteries to prevent RID broadcasting, and stay under 250g, and exempt from registration when flying recreationally.
