Hello all
Just wanted to drop in and say Hi.
I currently do not own a Mavic or other DJI product however I am doing some
homework and research beforehand. I am hoping to slide into a good deal
come Christmas time on a Platinum but after seeing the differences between
the standard Pro and the Platinum Pro I am really wondering if I shouldn't
just grab a standard to shave a few bucks off. Realistically 2 or 3 minutes
more of flight time and a few decibels of noise....I suppose the more efficient ESC's...
:) see why I am researching.
I have a good solid background in RC, Drone racing to be exact and have been
doing such for about 3 years now and build everything I fly.
I was at one point a Chroma owner but sold that a few months back.
Now a friend of mine who is in the aerial filming business has indicated that
he will need some help and he currently has a Mavic Platinum and a Inspire 2 Pro.
So I have been diving into the forums looking around trying to see the Do's
Dont's Good/Bad posts to make a solid decision.
In any case...Cheers

I would go for the standard Mavic. I got mine at Costco for 899 with the carrying case and prop guards. The Alpine white bundle is also pretty sick. It has 3 batteries for only 1050$. Wait until the platinum drops a bit in price. But it's truly up to you, they are both pretty **** awesom.

Thanks everyone, I seem to be finding lots of good info in here. Especially under Mavic Help. Looking forward to reading more!!!

Well took her out this morning for the Maiden flight. Have to admit I was a bit nervous
since it has been awhile since I have been behind a filming drone. Right away it had me
calibrate the compass as well as it needed its Collision Avoidance system calibrated.
Afterwards I took her up to test video and stills and for the most part at
its current settings everything seems to be in order.
Wife stuck her head out and said "where are your goggles" LOL she is used to
me racing FPV on my other quads.
One thing I am not a fan of is that Gimbal lock. I am sure over time I will get used
to removing/replacing but since that camera is very fragile I feel as if I am
going to break it LOL.
Currently around my neighbor hood and house I have it in Beginners mode just
to limit me while I transition. Once I get her out in an open field that is getting
turned off :)
