Hello all,

Nick here from the South of the UK.

For Christmas I bought myself the cheap copy of the Mavic Mini 2, after deciding that it would make sense to start with something cheaper and easy to repair if / when I crashed it, and to give less of a financial hit if when / I lost it.

Well, I lost it.

I dont think its too far from home, I took it out on a day with light winds, climbed straight up in my back garden and took it about 100m away, maybe not even that. Then it started drifting away so I panicked and hit RTH. It looked like it was returning and at one point I even heard the props buzzing. Then it wandered off again. Next door to us on that side is a big industrial yard, then lots of fields. I've been out to the fields and can't find it.

Shortly after this loss, I decided that I should have spent more money on a decent drone with a better app and better capabilities. So I did. Now I have a Mavic Mini 2.

I have taken it out a couple of times, for a long 30 min) flight yesterday around a neighbouring field and last night when it was misty - that was a mistake as it fell out of the sky and was very skittish (no harm done though, thankfully). Since then I have seen lots of warnings online about flying in misty or foggy conditions!

So, here I am - I am mostly going to use this forum to make sure that I do not lose my new drone! If any of you guys can point me to information or tutorials for new users, to make sure they keep their drones, I'd like that! Thanks for having me!

Cheers,
Nick.

Rule One is read the manual.
Rule Two is Rule One Applies.

Explain what you meant ..fell out of the sky...
It s not good to fly in either but unlikely going to make it drop.
And Welcome to the forum.

Hi nick0 Welcome to Mavic Pilots.
New flyer advice,
Wide open space.
Slow & easy
Power-lines & trees are evil.
Don't expect RTH (Return To Home) to save you especially if you are under trees.
Don't forget to read the manual ;)
Download Mini 2 manual HERE
You want an SD card that is U3 for 4K
Most of all have FUN

Welcome to Mavic Pilots! :) Enjoy the forum!Thumbswayup

Here are some things to help you get started with your Mini 2:
  • The current Mini 2 manual can be downloaded here (it doesn't come in the box). Other important documents can be found on the Mini 2 downloads page.

  • Check out this getting started guide for some tips not found in the Mini 2 manual.

  • This video covers all the basics of the Mini 2.

  • Your drone batteries will last longer if you use and maintain them like this.

  • Practice flying outdoors in a wide open location that's free of all obstacles. Don't attempt to fly inside your house or in other confined locations.

  • The drone records flight data each time you fly. You can decrypt and view those flight logs with these tools.

  • Check out MavicHelp.com for commonly used accessories you might need.
