I am jumping form RC helicopters to drones and feel I have habits to break. Is setup difficult on these drones?
One habit that might be hard to break is that you push up on the left stick to ascend. Not sure if its that way with RC helis. However you can change the stick mode.
Welcome to the group, one question I do have is this....last evening I tried to take off for first time in "beginners mode" when I lifted off, the control began to beep on and off. In looking at control the proximity sensor were showing mostly red bars, I assume that it was because drone was only about 8 feet from my porch and I was standing behind it about 5 feet. Could that have bene why it was beeping? I see this happen in couple videos last night.
Should I go to more open area and stand well clear of drone where there is nothing at all around it. My helicopters don't have any sensor and I can take off anywhere there is room
You'll of course have to learn how to use the features of a DJI drone. That should be easy for you to pick up since you've flown RC helicopters. Is setup difficult on these drones?
In the US, the law requires you to be able to see the drone with your eyes at all times. So, while you could technically fly your DJI drone miles away, it's not a responsible thing to do. And you of course can easily keep it within your sight while flying. In RC Heli's you MUST constantly look at aircraft and KNOW your orientation. With drones you can fly from display and take drone far away. This scares me very much
That or ignore the beeping. Until you understand how your drone works, it would be a good idea to fly it in a wide open location.Should I go to more open area and stand well clear of drone where there is nothing at all around it.
As someone has mentioned, you should give the manual a good readYou'll of course have to learn how to use the features of a DJI drone. That should be easy for you to pick up since you've flown RC helicopters. my ip birthday wishes tneb
Welcome to MavicPilots from Dayton Ohio USA! I also flew Helis, drones are cake in comparison. Fly safe and have fun!I am jumping form RC helicopters to drones and feel I have habits to break. Is setup difficult on these drones?
Flew several times in beginner mode, definitely different than helis. Beginners setting is too slow for me, do you know how much difference there will be if I turn off beginners?Welcome to MavicPilots from Dayton Ohio USA! I also flew Helis, drones are cake in comparison. Fly safe and have fun!
You can, but you don’t have to. ?No, controls are same unless I fly Heli upside down. In RC Heli's you MUST constantly look at aircraft and KNOW your orientation. With drones you can fly from display and take drone far away. This scares me very much
Yes, it will go much faster out of beginner mode. In beginner mode the drone speed is 15mph max. Also in beginner mode there are distance restrictions (30 meters) and the controller sensitivity is reduced.Flew several times in beginner mode, definitely different than helis.
