Former P3 drone guy. Still have it but haven’t flown it in years. Just bought a mini which should arrive Monday. I can’t wait to use it since it’s so small. One of the biggest deterrents for me was finding good open spaces where people wouldn’t freak out about me flying the P3 around. Hopefully the mini is less intimidating to others with its small profile.

Going by me experience the public will be a lot more tolerant of the mini than the P3.
I have a Xiaomi Mi 4k (similar in size to a phantom) & a M2P, the Xiaomi gets a lot more attention than the M2P and its not always good due mainly to the noise of the larger drone.

You'll find that the Mini almost flies itself. This can lead to overconfidence. Try to be conservative at first, and expand your horizons gradually. The Mini, at only 249 grams, doesn't handle wind as well as the heavier drones do. On windy days it's best to fly the Mini so that you have a tail wind on the way back.

Read your manual (link below), and practice using "Find My Drone". Chances are you'll crash and perhaps lose your drone. Don't wait 'til that happens to try to learn under stress in less than ideal conditions. We have over 100,000 members from around the world who will help you learn your new hobby. since you’re from Dayton, I hope other know that the Air and Space Museum there is hands down the best museum I’ve seen for military Air and spacecraft. Highly recommend it to any aviation fans on the forum.
