Great FPV video but how do they do this ? Note extremely close to people ?
I have seen the same with a train video where the drone appears to go through the carriage past peoples heads and then through a restaurant ?
One big giveaway is that in none of these close proximity videos are any of the people aware or make any movement in a startled way as the drone passes within inches !
At first I thought involved actors but now its NOT so can someone explain how these shots are achieved
Drone / people you would get a CAA / FAA visit if as it appears 😎👀😎

Can't give you an answer regarding possible needed paperwork to be allowed to do it... but to make a flight like this you need to be a seasoned FPV acro (full manual) flyer, preferably using a cinewhoop drone & instruct all inside the house how to behave & act when the drone is inside the house. Outside around the track I doubt anyone knew more than that a drone would be flying & chasing them.

Furthermore... the video was also sped up during some sections in the vid.

Sub 250g drones flown in Acro mode usually with fully enclosed props. Indoors is not under FAA rule and outdoors is not over a crowd. The racers were very likely participants (actors) for the video.

This is very likely a sanctioned video to advertise Daytona Motor Sports.

Yep.

They signed a waiver.

Much like the participants in this Home Depot advertiment.

Excellen video done by a very well planned event. I have seen videos like this before. It was definitly a commercially done piece. Everyone involved had to be briefed. I'm sure they were told not to look at the drone.
I think the first one like this was in a bowling alley. The next was a car plant in Germany. Same type of movements. Facinating videos!

I would bet the Home depot one was done with a CineLog. Everybody uses the Cinebot now!

Skilled pilots working for a professional production company, actors, a closed set, tight direction. This is not some teen with a 200$ drone...it takes real skill and experience to pilot through those obstacles and that close to people. Pretty amazing skills!

Can you just imagine the number of times they all heard CUT! I told you STOP looking at the Drone!!!! . lol

These are all well choreographed flights with actors. "Fly-through" videos are quite common these days, but as mentioned in a few posts already, they have to be done with an OOP Category 1 drone (none of the other categorized rones can do this), or by someone with an OOP/OOMV FAA waiver. The waiver is necessary if they are flying outside and over people or people in moving vehicles (like the go-cart video).

I also see a couple of posts where the writer said they participants signed a waiver. While that could certainly cover the pilot and venue (in theory) for liability, it has nothing to do with actually making the flight legal in the eyes of the FAA.

Here the restrictions about flying over people are "people not involved in the flight". People briefed for a staged shot are "involved in the flight".

Many do not realize the fact that when you film people for a video thats going to make money those people are now actors in the eyes of the Government and as such fall under the guidelines of OSHA 7929 you do not want to get the attention of OSHA. Hence paperwork.

The first widely distributed video like this was done by Jay Christensen (jaybyrdfilms.com), in the Bryant Lake bowling alley in Richfield, Minnesota. All people are actors and the shoot is carefully choreographed.

I think this is one of the first FPV videos done in that tight indoor style and definitely a favorite. Everyone in the video was part of the production. The sound was inspired by the bowling alley scenes from the Big Lebowski. It took the pilot 3 or 4 takes (which is still some crazy good piloting skills).

Edit: (Just saw PHZ's post above.... good timing!)

But still no reaction at all from the people with a drone flying inches from them !
Just had a thought which might explain lack of people movement ?
The flight carried out at very slow snail pace speed then dramatically speeded up in editing ?
This would mean any movement by the actors / participants would also dramatically speed up hence the need to stay completely still ?

But then looking at some of the other videos here some shots have people moving others still
Previous videos i have seen have the ppl holding a pose throughout so still think some sections are speeded up where a person moving would also speed up
Still clever stuff ! Have to find myself some actors statue like with the Air 3 at 3 mph or less and see what I can do speeding up the scene 😎👀😎

totally awesome. I usually do not watch FPV films (I get nauseated) but this was one great exception.

Dale I am going to take some ideas from this on my trip to Fuertaventura
A mild form but using involved people playing something like beach net ball ! Tell them to strike a statue like pose in different game positions as if a still from the game !
Fly around them at very slow speed 2 mph and then speed up the video in editing !
I cannot speed up if they move or the movements speed up but yes the above movie got me thinking 😎
