How do you know when the battery is fully charged

The led lights on the controller display all the time when charging. Cannot tell if it is fully charged

Are you using the supplied power connector? If not you will get slow charge message and it will take forever to fully charge. Maybe not that relevant but worth mentioning?
Can you not see the % battery level on the SC display?

Presumably a single press of the power button doesn't show the 4 led lights momentarily indicating 25%,...100%?
Are you are saying all 4 leds are solid when you power it on without connecting to power or just when charging?

Maybe use the SC for some browsing and run the battery down a bit.

If all four lights are on (even with blinking), the unit is charged fully

I just charged my SC this evening and after 100% charge is reached, having gone through the sequential 1-2-3-4 flashing LED's, no LED's are on. Also, my SC was not turned on to begin with.
