I had a bad day last week. First, I nearly lost my drone to the sea when I didn't account for winds. RTH automatically activated at ~12000 feet range. I immediate cancelled RTH, dropped altitude a bit and flew home in sport mode. Best I could get was 21 mph, so I knew there was a strong headwind. Drone battery was at 3% when I got it back to land.
Then I hiked to another location and lost the MP in a tree! Totally my mistake. I was flying backwards beyond that line of sight. The Mavic ended up in a tree about a half mile away in a very remote hillside area on Lantau Island (Hong Kong). I got in a cage fight with thorny bushes and undergrowth getting to the tree. The LEDs and neon orange wrap sure helped me locate the drone. I’ll go back after a strong storm hopefully blows it out of the tree! I’ve already bought a replacement. All I really want is the memory card! First lesson learned is to watch where I fly. Second lesson is to get the data off the SD card every time you fly.
Wonder how many MPs are in trees worldwide?
