How to disable REMOTE_ID on DH MAVIC 3. WORKS

Hello guys, I saw many posts related to REMOTE_ID how it is working on DH MAVIC 3. So there is a away to disable it, actually not to enable it in first place. So I will write down some steps how to do it. You may ask how I know when REMOTE_ID is enabled or when disabled - I have a special tool for that and I can monitor in real time when drone starts to transmit REMOTE_ID (RIDxxxxxxxxxx). This works on 1000 version. I did not try 1100.

1. Turn on your Drone and RC.
2. Now in the FLY APP, go into settings (three dots ...) >>> About >>> Name >>> enter: gps off and press OK. You will see satellites goes RED color. From now drone will stay forever in this mode. To enable GPS (together with REMOTE_ID) you need to enter: gps on.
3. Now after GPS OFF command was entered for the first time, you must restart the Drone and RC, remove battery for few sec aswell. IF you wont restart REMOTE_ID will still be broadcasted.
4. After restart REMOTE_ID is disabled, you will never see RIDxxxxxxxxxx transmitted. You can start your engines and fly away!

Thats it, it works 100% I tested many times, REMOTE_ID is disabled. You need to understand that with GPS OFF command drone will not be able to RTH (Return To Home). So in this case I would recommend to leave drone in HOVER mode and enter new command: lost_1000. With this command in hover mode if signal is lost drone will rise to 1000 meters so you can retain the signal. And it can be very tricky to fly this drone in GPS OFF mode because it enters to ATTI mode and wind will blown this drone away. If you gonna see you lose the control of the drone just enter command GPS ON and it will exit atti mode (REMOTE_ID enables)

ENJOY!

1000 meters? Are you serious? What could go wrong…?

I am considering buying Mavic 3, not sure about the version yet, though. Can someone explain to me why all the fuss about Remote ID? I do sometimes fly over some industrial objects without permission, so what is the risk?

I live and fly in EU, and I understand what a hack is :-) but not quite clear what are the implications of Remote ID etc. Does it mean my location can be determined or what?

first am out side the US and respect all rules and every one should do so..(i mention this in respect to forum rules)..
hi bro, thanks again for the sharing and effort u did , i need an answer on this for a very lovely friend of me ... he is a news reporter but in un peaceful place !!! am trying to help him for his safety!!! the question is to allow him use the mavic 3 with drone hacks mod (his safety is related to this )...
now the method u proposed will not send remote id and drone id on any rc type???? my friend have the rc1 which is the rc for mavic 3 with a screen so with a gps built in so will ur method prevent his mavic3 from sending the pilot location?? or it will only not send the drone location..??
thanks for understanding and help is appreciated

i dont know about the regulations there and never been on a tour with my drone there:confused:.. hopefully i will have a chance soon but... i think its not about EU every country has its own regulations for dji drones or rc hobby ..
yes the remote id is a big topic u need to read on that in details and it is a requirement for safety and legal use of drones in the US and other places

I know DH states they are not planning on providing any way to disable RID or
DID since being under the guise of new management.

HELLO MEMBERS Residing in the U.S. and a word of caution...
In the U.S. these discussions are NOT LEGAL.!!! It is illegal to defeat the RID features of your Drone! No matter the purpose. Providing info on how to do this if you are in America would be a conspiracy to violate 14 CFR part 89. !!!

In the US The FAA strictly forbids disabling RID on a drone that is required to have it.
Once the Drones firmware has been upgraded to use RID, By law it cannot be "rolled Back"
Just a friendly caution to members in the US and possibly the EU.

If you don't want to update a drone that doesnt have it you can use a RFID unit that velcroes on your drone like on a Mavic Pro. For those that want to read exactly what the reg is. Federal Register :: Request Access

Ruko R111 FAA Compliant Remote ID Module $29.00

This entire statement is absolutely absurd. Clearly you have no knowledge of the US Constitution and related citizen rights. It is statements like this that are taking the USA straight to draconian fear-mongering obey or be punished mentality.

I agree. While doing something illegal is by definition illegal, I think you would be hard pressed to find them willing to go after you for just discussing it.

While it is could be unlawful to conspire or "encourage" or solicit something illegal, merely discussing it would almost certainly be protected speech. However, there are some topics such as government encryption or t* or assassinations, etc that might have some Patriot Act exceptions....yeah you remember that Act from 2001 that we are still saddled with that doesn't seem to fall under the Constitution?

As long as you don't provide material support for illegal conduct, I think you'll be fine. This goes for the US but obviously this is changing rapidly so don't take my word for it. Clearly in the UK they've already crossed the line and we are headed that way soon.

And it's not just federal law, check it out here regarding proposed state legislation in FL regarding tampering with drone RID: Florida making stricter drone laws - proposed SB 1422
