Is there reasonable easy and safe way to get rid off a part to make the drone fit under 250g? Mine appears to be 2g overweight.

2 grs? Scale error.

There are stickers covering the rear arm hinges and a couple more covering some screws on the edge of the battery aperture. They aren’t on my mini 4 so don’t see why they put them on the 5! Not going to be much but it all adds up.

Why does it really matter?
Is your scale certified for accuracy?
Will the government approve of your own weight meassurement?

"How much jail time will you get for flying a DJI Mini 5 Pro?"

I won't open a video with such an absurd clickbait title and subtitle. Given those bits of nonsense, I doubt that there's anything in it to be taken seriously.

Don't be silly! Don is a clever guy and it is more rhetoric and sense of humour mocking the silliness happening out there over the weight issue.
He is very chill...

Want to shave some weight?

The battery doesn't need that much plastic to be solid and functional so you could drill a lot of holes in the plastic and replace it with a piece of packing tape.
You could swiss cheese the body too as long as you don't reduce any structural components.

I can see the next post now, "Mini 5 Pro making whistling noises in flight"🤣

There is an internal speaker, which maybe will be removed in the next batch to fit the measurements that DJI provided on advertising. That speaker is about that different.

DJI could shave some weight on all their Drones if they would stop putting grey Plastic "bodies" on them. I suppose it "looks" neat but the plastic is unnecessary and just helps the drones components to overheat.

You can’t drill many holes in a monocoque before it loses all rigidity.

I'm hesitant to second guess the best consumer drone design engineers on the planet over a few grams of weight reduction on the Mini 5 Pro. I do believe they just may have taken a look at the options before releasing it for production.

Removing stickers isn't going to lower the weight by 2 grams.

With everything else happening to DJI, I doubt that they would try to slip an extra 2 g by the market.

Think your drone is under 250g? Think again.

DJI markets the Mini 5 as 249.9g ±4g — which means some units may legally exceed the 250g threshold. In Europe, that violates the C0 classification under EASA, which allows no tolerance. In the U.S., FAA rules are just as clear: once your drone crosses 250g, it must be registered.

And let’s be real — anyone adding an ND filter (which is practically essential for proper video quality) is pushing the drone well over the limit.

So no, it’s not “Mini” anymore. It’s not exempt. It’s just another drone that needs to follow the rules. If you’re flying it unregistered, you’re not just bending the law — you’re breaking it.
