I am new to the site.

Welcome to the forums - a lot of good info here. So, take a look around and hope you enjoy some of the fine photography and information posted by the members.

Also, if you haven't done so yet, consider getting the AirMap and KittyHawk apps. I also suggest this Visualize it: See FAA UAS Data on a Map

From Danville, Virginia. Currently own and enjoy my Mavic Mini.

Hello and WELCOME to the forum!!

I trained a groupd of Emergency Services operators up there last year. I loved the area and the river was beautiful.

Thank you for the welcome, was that training with the Matrice 300??
Not at this training. We used the aircraft from each Department and at that time none of the Depts had Matrice level aircraft. It was Phantoms, Mavics, Autel, and IIRC someone had a Splashdrone.

We provided Phantom 4's for the flight training portion and one of the instructors brought one of his Govt fixed wing for Show-n-Tell.

Welcome to the forum.
I hope you will find our site helpful and look forward to any input , photo's/video's you might post .
Don't be shy and ask anything if you can't find it by searching .Thumbswayup

Wow that sounds like a lot! Our rescue department now has a Matrice 300 and the pilot showed it to me during a sporting event. They are amazing!

I'm sending you a PM :)

Welcome to our forum, from Texas!

You'll find that the Mini almost flies itself. This can lead to overconfidence. Try to be conservative at first, and expand your horizons gradually. The Mini, at only 249 grams, doesn't handle wind as well as the heavier drones do. On windy days--you get those in the South--it's best to fly the Mini so that you have a tail wind on the way back.

Read your manual, and practice using "Find My Drone". Chances are you'll crash and perhaps lose your drone. Don't wait 'til that happens to try to learn under stress in less than ideal conditions. We have several fellow Virginians among our membership, and over 120,000 more from around the world who will help you learn your new hobby. Ask for help when you need it. Share your work when you can!

Glad you've joined us!
